inset-inline-start
Applies inset-inline-start — the leading inline edge, which is the left edge in ltr and the right edge in rtl.
import { insIs } from "@sdxc/u/layout";Quick reference
Every documented call, beside the CSS it emits.
| Call | CSS |
|---|---|
u.insIs(4) | css({ insetInlineStart: "calc(var(--ui-spacing, 0.25rem) * 4)" }) |
Examples
Basic example
Use insIs(n) to set the inset-inline-start offset of a positioned element from the spacing scale, the left edge in left-to-right text:
<div mix={[...]}>
<div mix={[relative(), is(48), bs(32), ...]}>
<div mix={[absolute(), insIs(0), ...]}>insIs(0)</div>
</div>
<div mix={[relative(), is(48), bs(32), ...]}>
<div mix={[absolute(), insIs(6), ...]}>insIs(6)</div>
</div>
</div>Right-to-left support
The offset follows the writing direction, so insIs(4) holds to the left in ltr text and to the right in rtl text:
<div mix={[...]}>
<div dir="ltr" mix={[relative(), is(48), bs(32), ...]}>
<div mix={[absolute(), insIs(4), ...]}>ltr</div>
</div>
<div dir="rtl" mix={[relative(), is(48), bs(32), ...]}>
<div mix={[absolute(), insIs(4), ...]}>rtl</div>
</div>
</div>Using a custom value
Every scale argument also takes a raw CSS value, which passes through untouched.
u.insIs("2.75rem")Applying on a state
Wrap the call in a state utility to scope it to one selector.
u.hover(u.insIs(4))Responsive design
Wrap the call in a container query to scope it to one width.
u.at("md", u.insIs(4))Customizing your theme
Customizing spacing
Every numeric step multiplies --ui-spacing, so redefining it rescales every spacing and sizing utility at once:
:root {
--ui-spacing: 0.25rem;
}Every call that names the step now reads the new value:
insIs(4)Signature
u.insIs(value: SpacingValue)
