padding-right

Applies the physical padding-right property, for padding pinned to a fixed, physical viewport edge — such as a safe-area-inset offset on a docked panel.

import { paddingRight } from "@sdxc/u/size";

Quick reference

Every documented call, beside the CSS it emits.

CallCSS
u.paddingRight(4)css({ paddingRight: "calc(var(--ui-spacing, 0.25rem) * 4)" })
u.paddingRight(u.calc(`1.5rem + ${u.env("safe-area-inset-right", "0px")}`))css({ paddingRight: "calc(1.5rem + env(safe-area-inset-right, 0px))" })

Examples

Basic example

Use paddingRight(n) to pad the right edge of an element, whatever the writing direction:

paddingRight(12)
<div mix={[paddingRight(12), ...]}>
	<div mix={[...]}>paddingRight(12)</div>
</div>

Right-to-left text

In right-to-left text paddingRight() stays on the right, while pie() follows the direction to the end of the line on the left:

paddingRight(12)
pie(12)
<div dir="rtl" mix={[...]}>
	<div mix={[paddingRight(12), ...]}>
		<div mix={[...]}>paddingRight(12)</div>
	</div>
	<div mix={[pie(12), ...]}>
		<div mix={[...]}>pie(12)</div>
	</div>
</div>

Using a custom value

Every scale argument also takes a raw CSS value, which passes through untouched.

u.paddingRight("2.75rem")

Applying on a state

Wrap the call in a state utility to scope it to one selector.

u.hover(u.paddingRight(4))

Responsive design

Wrap the call in a container query to scope it to one width.

u.at("md", u.paddingRight(4))

Customizing your theme

Customizing spacing

Every numeric step multiplies --ui-spacing, so redefining it rescales every spacing and sizing utility at once:

:root {
	--ui-spacing: 0.25rem;
}

Every call that names the step now reads the new value:

paddingRight(4)

Signature

u.paddingRight(value: SpacingValue)
